About INDY

HI - I'M INDY! I'm a beautiful, stunning, sweet and young 3-year-old purebred German Shepherd girl in need of a new home! (My people actually think I'm closer to 2 years old, despite the shelter paperwork.) I am incredibly smart and I aim to please. I love people and will thrive in an active home where I receive lots of attention. I love praise, and that's the best way to train me. I pick up commands and rules quickly, and know 'sit', 'down', 'come' and 'wait'. I am very sensitive to people and listen well - and I am incredibly smart. I will adjust to a new routine in a few weeks and stick to it. I have done well with most larger dogs, but can be a bit selective and jealous in a home with another female. So I would do best with people who have a playful male dog or as an only girl. I'm extremely athletic, and can jump, so a high fence is best if I finally get the yard that I'm dreaming of - I would love my own yard! I walk pretty well on a leash, but can pull or wiggle out of a harness, so need a wonderful owner who will keep me secure. I love long walks and would do great in an agility course or on hikes. I would thrive with an active owner. I am loyal to a fault! I may be protective when people and pets walk past my fence or her property, because in my mind that's what I'm supposed to do. But out and about, I love meeting people face to face. I'm not great with cats, so sorry kitties! I am a wonderful, intelligent, beautiful dog, and would do well with an active person or people who can take me on plenty of walks, hikes or beach outings. I currently weigh about 84 lbs. I am currently looking for a foster or forever home.
