About Hank

Adoption Fee: $500
Great Dane
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

This is Hank, he's a good boy located in Union, Ky (delivery is a possibility depending one where you're located). He three years old and has gotten a little bit of training. We have him sit before eating and going potty (so he doesn't take anyone one out in his excitement). He's been enrolled in SMART Dog school in Florence, KY (aprox. $2000) and that training stays with him, meaning whoever gets him will have top notch training for free. Now, the not so good. He has bitten twice'|the first time was a neighbor girl who was messing with him while he was in his home (room under the stairs with a baby gate). We don't know what happened exactly as there was a crowd of my daughters friends and this one snuck away. All we know for sure is that Hank yelped loudly then bit the girl on the inside of her upper bicep. Our suspicion is that she was hugging him and squeezed his neck too tightly, causing him to yelp and then do the only thing he knew to do to get her away. The second bite we think was an accident. Another little girl came around the corner of his home while my ex wife was petting him. He started to do a warning snap towards her face and my ex wife stuck her hand out to protect the girls face, he ultimately bit the end of my wife's finger. Talking to the folks at SMART dog school Hank views Mom as an object and gets possessive. Additionally, they think Hank feeds off of his Moms anxiety. That being said, we have two kids, a nine year old girl and a 14 year old boy. Not once has he but them or even tried. We also have a cat and another small dog, neither of them have ever been hurt by him. So, why do we need to rehome him? Well, it's a prefect storm. While I think there are good explanations for each bite incident, it does make us wary with so many of my daughters friends in the house. It's not fair to Hank that he has to be locked up anytime kids are here (there's a lot of kids on our neighborhood) Additionally we recently divorced and my ex wife can't afford to feed him or pay for Vet visits. I am moving out of state for work and where I'm staying doesn't allow dogs. We need to find a home for him by November 9th as that will be my last day before moving. Please call with any questions concerns, if you'd like to meet him etc. The adoption fee is negotiable, we just really want him to have a good home. Thank you, Justin
