About Ivan

Thanks to some kind people far out in the county, they noticed a dog laying in the ditch and hanging out in a field for several days. He was shy and wouldn't come up to anyone. Some nearby neighbors started leaving some food and water for him. These individuals started reaching out to animal control and other shelters and rescues for help. (Due to our county animal control officer being out for an injury, county is currently limited in helping with situations like this.) We got the call through our sister site, Lost and Found Pets of Greater Lafayette to help. We took out our humane live trap, set up our game camera that sends pictures over a cellular network, and we were notified that he was trapped within a few hours. We arrived and got him out of the cage and took him to the shelter where he is waiting for his happily ever after. This sad, scared boy quickly loved on us, gently took treats, and happily ate some food. He was full of ticks and has poor skin from likely dirty conditions in his previous home, flea dermatitis, and poor quality food. He curled up in the back seat like a little gentleman and zonked out. He was exhausted from his adventure and no one has claimed him. Unfortunately, Ivan was behaving as if he was waiting in the spot where he was likely dumped by his owner on the side of the road. As you can see in this picture, he has quickly befriended new humans in the kennel and likes to be close to his people. He's very gentle. We do believe this pup, now known as Ivan, will need to be an only pet. He seems a little stiff and overly interested in the other dogs and cats. We think Ivan is about 2 years old and weighs about 50 pounds. He is very medium. Ivan is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Ivan seems to be a pretty chill dog and is quiet. He will make someone the best dog and has been a victim of irresponsible people in his first chapter of life. He needs a fresh start and we would love to see him out of the over crowded kennel and into a loving home.
