About Jupiter

Adoption Fee: $100
Dutch Shepherd mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Jupiter was found on the side of the road in June 2021 near our home. We brought him home and he was great with our two boys. Initially he would chase cats (didn't try to kill them just chased). We now have two kittens and he loves them and gets only with our other grown cat. Not sure how he would do with cats that aren't 'his.' He would need to get used to them for sure. Same with dogs. He does well with one dog next door because he met her when we first brought him home and she asserted her dominance. He has loved her ever since but does not like other dogs and views them as a threat. He has been wonderful with us and the boys. However, in the last few months he has been on 'high alert' and has grown aggressive to people that are outside of our family and has started to growl at the boys from time to time (something he has never done before). He does well with our family but not with anyone else. So he lives inside and of course we take him in the back yard to play. But the majority of the time he is inside and stays with me (wife) most of the day. He is very smart. Loves to lie on the couch next to me, follow me during the day as I work in the house, lie in the kitchen floor as I cook. It's obvious he would make an excellent guard dog for a home that doesn't have a lot of visitors or little boys that dress up like super heroes. We have adored having him and wish very much that we could keep him. However, with his behavior moving in the direction that it is, and since we have two young children and are untrained in how to correct or train him otherwise. We would love for him to go to a home that is familiar with Dutch Shepherds and would be able to train him well and would love him well.
