Meet Whiskey! He is an adorably handsome 2 year old black tri male Australian Shepherd.%BD%A0 What is Whiskey seeking in his Forever Home?-%BD%A0Country Living w Open Land%BD%A0- Whiskey does not want to say hi to several people a day and really just wants to hang with his owners and play / work in a field or lawn - Aussie or similar%BD%A0herding dog experience%BD%A0- Prepared to proactively lead this smart Aussie with your own strong Alpha presence%BD%A0-%BD%A0NO KIDS Whiskey loves pets and snuggles; he loves the bath, lakes and ponds; he is happy on long car rides (family often takes 6 hours drives and he is content and settled the entire time). He will play fetch with a ball forever and is the quickest most agile pup in the park. %BD%A0 Whiskey loves other animals. He has been around lots of dogs and horses (and cats that roam around the groomer) and is great with them on and off leash. He knows sit, stay and recall and he waits patiently for his food to be served. He is not protective of his food.%BD%A0He is housetrained and can be in or out of crate when no one is home as he never chews anything that is not his - unless you leave food out!%BD%A0 He will sleep in his crate if you prefer, but loves to sleep on top of the air vent or in bed.%BD%A0 Despite all Whiskey's truly wonderful qualities, he has a bite history. He IS NOT the dog for a first-time dog owner, or anyone inexperienced with reactive dogs and the herding breed. Whiskey is fiercely protective of his family, especially his mom and sister, and needs a home with a strong leader and without the spontaneity of kids. NO KIDS. He is fine around adult visitors after a minute or so, but the unpredictable and rambunctious nature of kids is something his family does not feel confident they can ever manage safely. He only wants to be pet by people he knows and trusts. He is fine in overnight dog hotel and when he is being groomed.%BD%A0 Current family is happy to provide guidance from his trainer who%BD%A0has a great relationship with him and is able to manage his reactivity when he stays in her home, so we know it can be done, he just takes time! Whiskey is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. He also takes monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.
