We do our best to screen these dogs, but make no guarantees regarding the information posted.** Name: Silo Age: 3 years old DOB: 04/02/2019 Breed: Border Collie Sex: Neutered Male Location: Cowlitz County, WA Vet Information: Silo weighs approximately 42 pounds. He is up to date on his vaccinations and is heartworm negative. He is also neutered. Silo has been seen by a veterinary ophthalmologist and he is completely blind in his left eye and partially in his right. His blindness is due to a birth defect. Dog Information: Silo is an indoor dog with the run of the house, he is leash trained and housebroken. He knows the following commands: sit, lay down, wait, crate, inside/outside. He has had 2 levels of puppy training and an intermediate group class. He is described as being outgoing, nervous, good with men, women, teenagers and cats. Silo is possessive with treats and food, here is what his owner said in regards to that: 'Snaps. Example: if I'm handing treats out and the other dogs rush around him, or are jumping he will start growling at them/snapping. Same if there's a visitor and all the dogs are wound up, if his space is violated he will start growling at them.' For this reason his owners are hoping to place him in a home without other dogs. Silo does great when he goes places, his owner states 'he's happy and confident, The only issue in new places is that he can be reactive to dogs, barking/whining, jumping on leash.' Silo's owner would like you to know: 'Silo is a wonderful, incredibly sweet dog. He's a favorite at our vets, and he's been professionally groomed every 4 weeks since he was a puppy. We truly just feel like our busy household is a poor fit for him, and by keeping him we aren't doing him justice. Our other two dogs have their canine good citizens, and we had hoped to do agility with Silo, but with him immediately going blind this wasn't an option. We have tried our best to provide him with outlets, one on one time, and training, but we truly believe he'd be happier in a slower traffic home.' If you are interested in Silo, please let us know. He sounds like a very sweet boy!
