*ADOPTION PENDING* Sweet and Spice Ms. Lilly! Ms. Lilly is an approximately 5-6 year old, 30 pound, red merle, bobtailed Mini American Shepherd (aka mini Aussie) waiting for the Forever Friend who appreciates independent girls with hearts of gold just waiting to be loved for themselves. MS. LILLY SWEET: Ms. Lilly is a little love who adores giving hugs and receiving cuddles from her Besties! Walkies and car rides with her Pal and Confidante are her favorite things to do. Lilly likes some activity to busy bee by and lets it be known when she's ready for some 'love on me' time. Lil gal does well in her crate. She prefers to eat alone in her space. She's been in a home with%BD%BD%BD%A0 a variety of foster canine siblings and enjoyed them, of course, after proper, slow introductions. Lilly is a lovely lass with kiddos, too-older ones who are understand and respect dogs are best. MS. LILLY SPICY: Ms. Lilly wants to play with the other pups, but her wee saucy bossy side isn't always understood. Her direct, little self can seem a tad pushy. Lilly gets grumbly sometimes and doesn't mind vocalizing her displeasure. She prefers to eat alone in her crate. Lilly knows what she likes. And what she doesn't. Ms. Lilly does NOT appreciate collar grabs-not.at.all. it's threatening. (She may have been yanked around as a lazy means of correction or general mistreatment.) And Ms. Lilly does not like surprises. Nope. She's a direct gal and prefers the same courtesy. When she's a bit fearful or needs behavior reminders, the mini Ms. responds extremely well to redirection and verbal cues. MS. LILLY'S STORY: What Ms. Lilly seeks are Forevers who know the breed, and may have even had an expressive, occasionally reactive girl in the past. Lilly is searching for the affection and understanding of an ally who gets her and will invest time in her. A 'no matter what it takes' Bestie. She came to ASA from a shelter after she was handed over for biting an older lady. However, Lilly has done extremely well in a loving Foster home with those who have spent time understanding her needs and giving her training and guidance. We can postulate that Lilly wasn't given the focused, intentional mental, physical, and social enrichment she needed, or reacted to inexperienced handling. MS. LILLY'S LOVES: Ms. Lilly's Forever Home Sweet Home is with confident, experienced herding breed folks who deserve this smart, loving lady and have realistic expectations for a vocal, sometimes bossy gal with a trigger or two. Her besties will commit to guide Lilly through her sometime fears and resource guarding. Since she can be reactive to surprises or sudden moves, children 11 and up who are dog savvy and have learned dog boundaries may also be Ms. Lilly's best friends. Since she can be a little-as Foster Mom puts it,'in your face', she would love to be the star of her home, but may do well with another dog in the experienced home described. A fence is preferred since Lilly can dart through doors, and wander, but may not be needed for exceptionally experienced,'with my dog all the time' folks. Multiresidential buildings (such as apartments) are not a good fit for this pup. The best adopters give their new family member time to decompress and grow familiar with a new environment and routine. They see the importance of investing time to understand their dog and build a bond of trust and provide steady, reasonable guidance and training. An adopter commits to slow and monitored introductions with new people, especially children, other animals, and new places.
