About Ruby

Thank You for looking at my picture! I am Ruby, and my foster mom has so many great things to say about me. I am spayed. I am roughly 45lbs but have not been weighed recently. I could stand to lose a couple of lbs with more exercise. I'm 6 yrs old, and I seriously don't have any flaws! I love children of all ages, and am so very gentle with them. My foster parents have a 2 yr old grandbaby and she loves to snuggle next to me and 'read' books to me while I watch her every move. My little foster furbrother is a small jack russell who only weighs 14lbs, and I play well with him because I can see that he's smaller than me. I'm good at entertaining myself when I have something scrumptious to chew! I love to jump up on the bed if you let me, but will sleep on the floor on a dog bed if I'm told to. My favorite thing of all time is to lay on my back next to you on the couch for belly rubs. My foster mom is working daily with me one nail at a time to get me used to nail trimmings. I'm not mean when she trims them, I'm just not used to it so she's patient with me as I learn. I am not terrible on leash. I'm definitely controllable, but honestly once she bought me a gentle leader leash, I became the perfect lady! What kind of magic is this?! I love, and love deeply. I find which human is my favorite, and I'm your girl! My middle name isn't shadow for nothin'! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE to play tug. I love sticks, and a good kong with peanut butter, or a pigs ear to gnaw on. I like all of my toys in a basket so I can dig through and find the perfect one to take to someone who wants to play with me before my foster human puts them all back. It's great fun! Psssst!!! I'll whisper this to you so only you can hear. I do have a bit of separation anxiety but if you start me off with just a few minutes alone in the house and build on it, I'm fine. I can even be trusted in the house alone without damaging things as long as you're not gone hours and hours. I have so much to give! I am told that my breed is a fairly healthy breed, and that the average lifespan of a Plott hound is 10-14 years. That means I'm not even middle aged yet! hahaha. I have a wonderful deep bark and will talk to you when you tell me we're going for a walk, but I only bark once in a while if I am concerned about a noise outside. When my foster mom tells me 'that's enough...' then I stop and go back to my business. Please get with my foster mom to chat about me. I am the most loyal girl, and would make the greatest addition to your home.
