About Apollo

Rehoming Apollo is a very difficult decision for me and my family. When I adopted him, I was in full health and knew the amount of training and attention he would need. Unfortunately, my health has dramatically changed and my mobility to give him the exercise and training that he needs has decreased. We tried to make it work, because we love him so much, but we need to do what's best for him. He needs someone who is experienced in training, will have the time for him, and energy to match his high energy. He's a very sweet dog and loves his people very much. He's all about the cuddles and playing. He has been very good and gentle with my toddler, but he is very hyper and will accidentally knock her over on occasion. He does have a tendency to herd because of his breed, but we have worked with him not to herd our toddler and smaller dog, but I'm not sure if he's need that redirection in a new home. He learns very, very quickly. He knows basic commands such as sit, lie down, back up, stay, and is potty trained. He doesn't have food aggression but is sensitive to chicken based products. He won't be able to be crate trained because we rescued him from a home that locked him in a crate for the first 4 months of his life and he reacts badly to crates. He does have a 'mouthing' tendency but not a biting one. He has never bitten anyone or another animal. He's good with other dogs at the dog park and is overall a very sweet, agreeable, and happy dog. If we could, we'd keep him with us for the rest of his life. We are going to be very very picky about his forever home, because we're wanting what's best for him.
