About Gigi

Adoption Fee: $150
Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Gigi has been in our home for the past 2 years. She is a Mini Aussie born 2/20/2020 (father Blue Merle, mother Red). She is 28 pounds and does not shed a lot. We need to relocate her since she is a dog that needs a lot of exercise and can't be around kids (shows her herding dog instinct). Here is her description: Good with: Adults, cats, and other dogs (usually pretty submissive) Not good with: Kids that are rambunctious and loud and people that seem afraid of her. If kids are loud and running around she will try to nip them (probably a herding instinct). Personality: Obedient. Smart. Curious. Protective. Very sweet and always likes to be close to her human(s). Likes to cuddle and sometimes even thinks she's a lap dog. Tilts her head from side to side if you talk to her. Other stuff: Slighlty traumatized from first owner (2-4 months) who kept her alone in a kennel for too long when she was young, so she probably doesn't like kennels/crates (confined spaces) and has some separation anxiety and doesn't like being left alone for too long (but a few hours is fine). Likes: snacks, cuddles/snuggles, hikes, walks, playing fetch with sticks or balls, and trying to chase squirrels. Enjoys being outside and is used to having lots of outdoor space to run around freely. Has lived with and enjoys being around cats and other dogs. Likes to chew on hard bones. Knowledge: house-trained, sit, down, roll-over, stay, has had 3 agility classes, good on or off the leash (comes back after chasing critters). Some obedience training with beeping/shock collar. Vet stuff: spayed, microchipped, up to date on all shots and heartworm/flea medication. Does well with letting her nails be cut at home. Also fine with teeth cleaning Needs: A loving owner that understands aussies and goes on a good walk/hike at least twice a day. Best would be if she was with someone who wanted to giver her additional training. She's a quick learner and food motivated and needs lots of mental and physical stimulation. We are searching for Active folks who love Aussie awesomeness and appreciate all that comes with an Aussie attitude - the joys and the challenges - are going to adore Gigi. Best with lots of land and another dog. Contact is Heike at 812-340-3518. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions.
