About Bear

Owner Surrender*** Belfast, Maine This handsome good boy is Bear aka Simba. He is 8 years old and weighs 65-67 pounds. He is current on vaccines and neutered. Bear is not good with small animals or small dogs. He is good with kids 8 years and up. He is completely housebroken, kennel trained, leash trained, knows basic commands. He is a Velcro and loves people! He also goes on walks 2 times a day. Owner says: 'During my divorce my ex husband kept him, so he had sole ownership of Bear for 5 years. He recently contacted me and asked me to take him back or he was going to take him to the pound. I took him back but he failed to tell me that Bear was no longer 'good' around small animals or small dogs. Unfortunately, I cannot keep him as I already had a small dog that now has to be keep in another room as he has attempted to go after her several times. It was not an easy decision to come to this conclusion. He is a good boy but it takes a while to introduce him to new dogs-he will growl, show teeth when 'new' dogs come into his environment but once he feels comfortable enough he is actually good with dogs his size. During the years my ex-husband had him he gained a ton of weight because his girlfriend's daughter was feeding him large quantities of peanut butter. Furthermore, Bear was shaved down to the skin many times in his care and unfortunately his coat isn't going to grow back as it was before.' Bear is a good dog that will thrive in the right environment and certaily deserves to be loved.
