About Browny and Max

Boxer / German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult

Browny is very playful & energetic. She loves to chew things and run around. She doesn't bite, not unless you're playing with her around the mouth, then she'll use her mouth to playfully nibble on your hands. Depending on how excited she is, she can nibble gently and get a little rougher. She has no intensions of hurting anyone, she just loves attention and playtime. She jumps as well, whether it be on you or just when she's really excited and jumps to look over the gate. She doesn't like brooms and vacuums, and she gets scared a bit easily. She doesn't have any spots on her body where she doesn't like being rubbed, she just loves physical touch, and belly rubs. When it comes to baths, it's a bit of a hit or miss. She gets really sad and tries to escape the tub/area when the water is cold. With much reassurance and gentle/playfulness, she is usually quite well during bath time. As far as I can tell, she is willing to eat anything and everything, though if you switch her food suddenly, her stomach seems to need time to adjust and she will have diarrhea. After some a day or two, she is usually much better. We are not quite sure on her breed, but it's assumably a boxer mix. If Browny is separated from Max she usually gets severely depressed and and stops eating for long amounts of time. (They've been together since they were babies, and she just gets really sad without him). She is also spayed. When she was younger and learning to climb the stairs, she had once fallen and not there a cut on her tongue that you can see when she pants (it's 1/5 the width of her tongue). She also loves to lick and face kisses. Max is very gentle and sweet. He usually isn't all too excited except occasionally when playing with browny, but even then he tends to make Browny go to him to play with a stick rather than running around with her. He absolutely loves head rubs, and when you stop scratching his head he nuzzles under your hand for more. He hates baths and does anything to avoid them. Though, with patience he does come around. Sometimes when getting into trouble he gets sassy and refuses to listen (just sits/stands and stares at you or walks away). He loves to cuddle at night, though over times when you stop petting him, he will get up and lay a few feet away, but usually stays in the room. He is a bit picky with food, especially treats. If the treats smell anything like meat or alike, he loves them. He, just like browny, doesn't have any spots he gets upset when petting, but he gets confused when touching/playing with his tail. He as well has the same problem when the food is switched to something else (brands/flavors). He sometimes gets picky and refused to eat it, but he does come around with a little bit of time. He loves head rubs more than anything, he'll never get tired of them. He doesn't really bite or nibble, not even when playing. He also doesn't lick much either, he's more on the cuddly gentle side. Max is a German Shepard mixed with a Golden Retriever and chow. He has a black spot on his tongue he was born with. He has not been neutered. Both dogs respond to 'sit,' 'wait,' 'go ahead,' 'come here,' 'knock it off,' 'gentle'. Sometimes when giving them food, they don't eat without saying 'go ahead.' They had problems with eating to fast and throwing up when they were younger, so we trained them both to sit and wait till we were done pouring, and then go ahead. They don't have that problem anymore, though they do time to time when it comes to water. They both get antsy when being confined into one space (kennels), but they are usually fine. Without attention, they will attempt to escape. They did this a lot with us, and ended up getting fleas multiple times, which is what we feel might be the main reason they are skinny. (We give them plenty food, twice a day and usually enough to where they still have a few bites left over from being full). They are both chipped as well. We have decided to give them a new home due to the fact that we're all starting to get too busy to take care of them, which we all agree is unfair to them. Due to the fact we don't have extra time to love on them and play, they have been getting out so often that the police show up at our door frequently. We have gotten two fines, and have to go to court for both. We were told that the next time they get out, they'd be forced to take them away and possibly charge me with neglect of some sort. We feel we have no choice and it would be healthier for the dogs to be in an environment where they can be loved on and have plenty of attention. We tried to ask around (friends, family, neighbors, etc.) We hoped to have them somewhere with close friends we could visit but we've had no hope or opportunity. We would prefer them to say together. It's really important to us that they still have each other.
