About Walter

Lab mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Walter, a 4-year-old, 58-pound male from Norwood, MA! Without knowing his breed for certain, he looks like a small and spunky Black Lab mix. We don't mean to brag, but Walter is a really furr-ific boy! He's an active dog who loves being outside. He has moderate energy, but can run like the wind when he plays fetch with his beloved tennis balls. He loves taking long walks, runs, or hikes in the woods. He is used to long daily walks, but is very good off leash as well. Walter absolutely loves car rides and gets very excited at any opportunity to go for a drive. He's quite silly, too, especially when he tries to talk to you. Smart? Yup! Walter knows many commands, including sit, stay, come, paw, down, leave it, get busy (for potty time), and go to your bed when he has a treat. He listens very well. His current owner says Walter stays very close to him when out hiking. He typically runs ahead, but looks back to make sure he isn't too far away. A quick whistle and he will stop in his tracks and come back to you. Walter is fairly independent during down time. Though he likes to be in the room with everyone and see what is going on, he's not a snuggly lap dog kinda guy. If you don't like dogs who demand attention or want to sleep with you, Walter could be your match. Normally, Walter calls it a day around 7 p.m. At that time he likes to be left alone to fall asleep counting treats. Walter is typically better with female dogs, but has made friends with males. It all depends on the other dog. Since he's been around only dogs, it's best he does not live with other pets such as cats. With people, it's easier to warm up with ladies, but has close ties with some men. His ideal environment would be a household of adults only, or a family with quiet teenagers. He would do much better without the noise and energy of young children. Walter is being rehomed because he's uncomfortable around toddlers and has shown his teeth to his little human sibling. He would not do well in the city, or in loud environments so preferably a country or suburban environment. Walter is neutered and house-trained. He does not use a crate because he's a good boy and can have free range of the home when left alone. Please apply to adopt Walter! https://tiny.cc/ARK-Application #ARKforWalter #JustSaveThem
