Poodle / Lab
Age: Young Adult

PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO. Meet BOGEY: A 1-3 year old male neutered, adorable Labradoodle mix. Bogey is the life of the pawty, he thrives from playing all day with his friends and he also loves to cuddle. He loves people and jumps right into playgroups! General Behavior: Bogey is super fun! He needs mental stimulation, be it from playing with dogs, practicing his commands (he knows sit and is learning to stay), to chewing on his bones and tearing up toys. It's his favorite thing! Kongs are beloved to him, especially filled with yummy snacks. He is learning to walk on his leash and as he is food motivated, training him is easy. He loves, loves, LOVES food so make sure you put away all food or edible objects. He is highly food driven and will spend a lot of time sniffing about for munchies. He is still learning how to eat slowly so a slow feeder is a must, or else putting a ball or a kong in his bowl. He is well potty trained, having had zero accidents. He is used to going out every 2-3 hours and playing a lot during the day. He does not exhibit separation anxiety but he needs to have enough exercise to spend his energy, or else he will find ways to spend it in his house. His athleticism and playfulness means he should ideally have a very playful pup at home. Bogey adores playtime and he is not submissive. He does not back down if a doggy challenges him, but he is in no way aggressive. He does get possessive with his toys, food, and chews with other dogs, so always keep an eye out on that. He is crate trained but prefers to be loose and playing during the day. If you do have to crate him, make sure you leave him with safe, interesting toys and a snack. He sleeps in his crate at night without a problem (just make sure you give him a bedtime snack). Likes & Dislikes: Bogey dislikes the crate during the day because he'd rather play! Someone who works from home or someone with a secure, dog-proof room for him to be loose in would be an ideal adopter. He's great at sleeping in his crate overnight and can also stay in it during the day for short stretches of time. Bogey is very food motivated and will not share his food with others. He might try to take his friends' food too. Bogey loves to run free and play, so a secure fenced in yard is a must. If given the chance, he might escape. Therefore, a harness will be more secure for walks so that he cannot pull out of a collar. Training: Bogey is completely potty trained but you can cut off his water after 8:30 pm just in case. His foster mom is working on walks, but he gets a ton of exercise with her dogs. Medical: Bogey , microchipped, and up to date on all shots. He is on monthly preventatives for fleas/ticks/heartworm which he will need to continue taking on the 11th of every month for the rest of his life. Other Animals: Bogey is great around all other dogs and would do best in a home with another very friendly/playful dog(s)NO EXCEPTIONS. He will keep asking dogs to play so they need to be receptive. Bogey hasn't been exposed to cats so we are not sure about how he will react. However, he loves to chase and play. Children: Bogey has not met any children yet, so we prefer no kids under 15. Home: Bogey would do well with a family or family member that works from home so he gets a lot of exercise and interaction. If that's not possible, he needs someone to take him out for walks during the day. Bogey was listed as an escape artist and while he hasn't shown those tendencies at his foster home, it's best to have a secure, fenced-in yard and be careful at the door. He requires a house with a fenced backyard as well as daily walks/exercise.He's great with his potty training and sleeps well in his crate. Grooming: Bogey does requires regular professional grooming. He has recently been shaved by our vet when he was found extremely matted. Overall: Bogey is so fun and full of spirit and he loves to play and be active. He needs an active family or an active doggie in his new family. He also needs a family who will patiently continue to teach him his manners as he is incredibly food driven and does jump when food is in the vicinity. He will sit calmly if you ask him to and loves to cuddle!
