Must live within 4 hours of Twin Falls, Idaho. If you can meet these needs for Siri, please fill out an application at https://brokenheartsrescue.wixsite.com/mysite/general-6-1 This fun-loving but very goofy girl is Siri. Siri is about a year old and she is a Great Dane. Not even sure where to start with a bio for her but our favorite term for her is 'she's a lot'. Let us explain that for you. She's a lot of dog. She hit the scales at 87lbs when we first got her and she has put on a little weight so may be closer to 100lbs now. She's awkward with those long legs but that doesn't stop her from trying to climb on your lap or step onto your bed and even use those long legs to kick you out of it. Like most Danes, she's a leaner and it's not just with part of her weight . . . she wants you to feel all of her 100lbs of love all at once. She will need a stable human to support her 'love leans'. She's a lot of voice. If you are looking for a quiet dog, she's not the one for you. She is determined to voice her opinion often and at times argue with you when she doesn't like your tone of voice. Although it may be comical at times, there are times when it is not so appreciated (like when you are on the phone with the doctor). She's a lot on the leash and when meeting new people or dogs. She LOVES people and other dogs, but she's still working on how to meet them in a calm manner. Her first instinct is to get excited and jump at them . . . no aggression, just pure excitement. She would love to have another LARGE dog (NO little dogs) to play with her her forever home, but she will need help understanding dog cues as she tends to bounce all around them and over them. She doesn't understand when they are done with her. It is important for a dog of her size that her adoptive family get her in some basic obedience training. If you can't give her that then please do not apply. She is a lot of quality food and medical is more expensive for a dog her size. She has been spayed, had gastropexy, and double cherry eye surgery . . . costing over $1000 in the short time we've had her. Please do your research on costs to care for a dane. Also Danes are often a dog breed that homeowners insurances don't allow, so do your homework and check on that before getting one. She is a lot of puppy. All she wants to do is play, play, play and chew on things. Siri is very similar to a human baby and puts everything into her mouth. She does listen if you tell her to stop, but the minute you aren't looking she will go back to it. She's a persistant bugger. That being said, she is potty trained but still gets up almost every night to go out to go potty. She can be mouthy during play time and when she gets excited. Totally not intending to hurt, but sometimes it's too much. A firm voice and an ubrupt end to playtime is necessary in these cases. Because of this, her long whip-like tail, and her lack of respect for personal bubbles . . . No kids under 12 for this girl. Overall, Siri wants to please but she didn't get enough experiences and rules as a younger pup to set a good foundation and she is still a work in progress. She needs firm rules, some extra training, and lots of patience from her forever family. She is kennel trained, rides in the car well, and is surprisingly not very drooly for a dane. She has a big heart and wants to be loved. She is looking for a family that can spend a lot of time with her, hopefully give her a large canine playful buddy, the ability to provide for her financially, and structure and training to be the best girl she can be. Siri's adoption fee is $300 to help offset the cost of her medical.
