If Vanessa's eyes don't tell the story of a broken dog, we don't know what does. But broken dogs can heal, and we are excited to watch Vanessa's healing. Vanessa is a young dog who looks like she spent a lot of time confined to a cage too small for her. She has what we call 'crate feet'; it happens when the muscles and tendons in their legs and feet don't develop properly from confinement and inactivity. She is also covered in urine. Sigh. It's okay Vanessa, we got you. Vanessa is shy and scared but did warm up a little for us, at least enough so that we could pet her. She wasn't quite ready to take treats from us, but she did follow us around a bit. Vanessa seems to be more comfortable with dogs than humans (who isn't?) so maybe a canine companion is just what Vanessa needs to come out of her shell. Help us help get Vanessa into a loving home where she can learn to trust and love. Come meet Vanessa at the CACC shelter in Chicago! open adoptions daily from 12p-6p
