About Toulah

(DOB 06/14/2022) Due to Toulah's young age, she has not yet been spayed. For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC). Toulah is a smart and happy little girl with a side of mischievousness and a fun and feisty personality! Toulah will need a little furry playmate, preferably a younger and still playful puppy. She has lots of energy that needs to be directed into play. Toulah is also use to going on multiple walks per day that include, earlier & mid-morning, afternoon, after dinner, early evening and right before bed. This is a good routine for her and helps with both a good amount of exercise and potty training. She also loves to stop and sniff and investigate everything while she is out and about. Her new family will need to continue her leash training. Her new family should be committed to a similar routine and not be bound to the house all day. She enjoys playing with a variety of toys so make sure to have a toy basket filled with lots of different ones. They can be all squeaker toys, chew toys, stuffed toys, she loves them all. Toulah also enjoys a fun little game of tug-o-war. She spends part of her day hanging out with her foster while they work. As long as she has had the proper exercise, she will snooze some and play with her toys. She is a good little office assistance. During office break time, a little belly rub is always a good idea. At her young age she is still learning all kinds of things and her family needs to be prepared to help her be successful. She sleeps in her crate, but is not crazy about being apart from everybody else. She will occasionally let her displeasure be known; however, she is pretty good with being in the crate. She is also still a bit nippy and mouthy, so again no very young children for this cutie. One of the most important things her new family will need to know and be both prepared or and work with little Toulah on is she is still a FLIGHT RISK. She is still learning about security, confidence and trust so she is skittish. Therefore, a family that will ensure doors, gates are always secure, she has proper martingale collar and leash on whenever out for a walk, etc. She will run away if you approach her; however, will come to you if you are sitting down. So patience, understanding and lots of positive reinforcement training will help Toulah work through some of her nervousness. Her home will also needs a yard to run and play in--has TONS of energy. It will need to be 4-5 ft tall and solid. Because of this an apartment or condo would not work for little Toulah. Toulah has not yet been cat tested. As part of Toulah's $275 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
