About Sonny

Sonny is a very loyal, protective, attentive, playful, and smart blue heeler. He is still a puppy, 5.5 months old, but is an incredibly fast learner. Sonny's recall is excellent, he is fully potty trained, loves his kennel, and highly food motivated. He has been trained using positive reinforcement. He has been living with his current family, a couple and their 11 year old dog. Sonny is very tentative around new people, situations, and things. He thrives in a consistent environment where he is not forced to engage with things he is fearful of and can do so slowly. He is still working on resource guarding and aggression around people who are not in his family. When Sonny is afraid he nips, barks, and looks for comfort from his people. He has very good bite inhibition but frequently uses his mouth to communicate his needs when dysregulated. He loves spending time outdoors and playing in his fenced yard, but would benefit from a larger property to call his own. Sonny would thrive in a quiet household with another dog, especially a playful one. He is fearful of children but has not had much interaction with them. Sonny is an incredible dog that will make a wonderful addition to the right home for him!
