Meet Doug Available for Adoption This boy is a Diamond amongst dogs! There are only 2 things his potential adopter will need to work with him on. The first is simply teaching him not to jump up on people (which is why we think if there are kids, they should be older. And the other is that he gets a little excited when playing with other dogs and may get a little too rambunctious. Again, with consistent direction, he'll learn that in no time. But that's why we recommend thar if there is other dogs, they should be his size or bigger. **Totally unsure about cats. A write up on Doug from a sweet lady who took him out on a fieldtrip. 'Such a sweet boy and I do hope he soon finds his forever home. What an adorable doggie package Doug is. If I had to pick one word to describe him it would be 'affectionate'. It was a privilege to spend some time today with him. He is a wonderful mix of exuberant puppy and calm, friendly, snuggle bug. Doug came bounding out of the kennel, totally ready for his adventure. First of all we drove to Shelby Farms and he quietly enjoyed the ride from the back of the car. He calmly watched the world go by and seemed very comfortable getting in and out of the SUV %BD'%BD|..with a little boost. I think he would be a good traveler. Doug loved his walk around the woods in Shelby Farms. He wandered companionably with our other foster dog, Marv. He was friendly with all the dogs and humans he met and wagged his tail in greeting. It was a hot day so we sat under a shade tree for a while and Doug laid next to Marv in the grass and they enjoyed some friendly play time, then Doug occasionally sat up to give me kisses. He is such an affectionate little man. I gave him a little wash with the water hose in the park and he just stood there calmly and let me soap him up and dry him off. Doug has the most beautiful coat and gorgeous brown eyes. He just melts your heart. We rode on to Starbucks and he savored his puppoccino. We also made a stop at PetCo and he left with a toy, but seemed rather unsure about what to do with it. I'm sure he would love to have someone introduce him to the world of doggie toys and play with him as I feel he has not had much playtime in his life. We made a stop at a taco truck and sat outside at a table with Doug and Marv. Doug was calm, didn't beg, and didn't bother the other customers - he was a perfect lunch guest. One of the taco truck workers told me he was scared of dogs, but he didn't mind Doug at all. I enjoyed walking with Doug. He was a good, gentle leash walker. He did not pull and was very calm and just wanted to keep looking back to check on me. I shed a tear when I took him back to the kennels. He has some puppy exuberance - particularly when he first gets out of his kennel - and any potential adopter should be prepared to manage that, but he is a sweet, gentle, loving, boy and deserves a wonderful life. I can't recommend him highly enough to anyone considering adopting Doug. They would be lucky to have Doug as their four-legged friend.'
