First the shelter said he was 6. Then we met him, had to be no more than 2-3 years. Now after his neuter, the vets says 12 months! Only one year old?! Georgie is a lucky guy! He wound up in Tulare City at a very nice shelter, where they care for their dogs. Georgie went in with a fractured vertebrae near his tail! He was on strict bed rest while healing so he lost some muscle mass. He is still healing but he is now on the move! He's walking, using stairs, regulating himself and being careful. He lies down when he gets tired. I saw him pawing the water and it's not even that hot out today, but I had a feeling. I turned on the misting system and when I turned around, Georgie was lying down under it with his mouth wide and tongue hanging, catching the mist, he was so happy! The plan is for Georgie to hang out at his foster's while his fractured tailbone finishes knitting and he has put on some good weight (muscle). His back end needs to match his front! I watched Georgie using the few front stairs to walk to Rachel's Prius, and we were going to lift him, then they were going to borrow my ramp, but Georgie just stepped right into the back of the car! Piece of cake! We'll be adding updated photos to Georgie's album as we get them! For now, he's in a cushy home, getting the care he really needs now! He is adoptable!
