About MIGHTY MITE

Meet MIGHTY MITE! 2 year old male Chihuahua LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Loving home, small dog buddy. HIGHLIGHTS: Happy, friendly and housebroken! Mighty Mite is a sweet 2 year old, 7.6 pound Chihuahua who came to us with another dog after the sudden death of their owner. The two were taken to a shelter, and we were happy to help them get out of there and into rescue so we could work on finding them a new home! At first we thought they were bonded, but it didn't take us too long to realize that they are not at all. Mighty Mite actually bugs Cricket a little too much, and where she would prefer peace and quiet, he is still in his puppy stage! Mighty Mite loves his person, will follow them anywhere, and loves to be held. He is so happy to see his human when they come home and does not let up until he gets lots of kisses. Mighty Mite is the most loyal dog ever, nothing makes him happier than to be where his person is! His foster mom says that she thinks he's just starting to learn how to be a puppy, something he may have missed out on in his prior home. Mighty Mite has started playing with the other dogs in his foster home and gets along with all size dogs. We have not had him around cats and we are not sure how he would be one way or the other. He has not been around kids either. We think he would be ok with older children who are familiar with handling small dogs. Mighty Mite is doing great with his house training and has not had an accident leading us to believe he is housebroken. He may need a little bit of a refresher course in a new home but with a good routine and positive reinforcement he should be just fine. He sleeps in the bed with his foster family at night, and is such a snuggler. A fenced yard is recommended because of his small size and so he has a place to run in place safely, but it is not required in the right home. Mighty Mite has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Applicants should live within a 1-2 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review.
