Duke is an 18 month old Belgian Malinois/GSD mix. His personality leans toward that of a GSD. He's the definition of a Velcro dog. Duke has had limited training; however, he is extremely eager to please, intelligent, attentive to his handler and has a nice food drive, he is a pleasure to train. Our volunteer had Duke overnight and spent the day with duke at the Dog beach and training in Home Depot, he performed extremely well. Our volunteer found Duke to be confident and stable; not overly concerned with sudden loud noises, comfortable on various surfaces, non-reactive to other dogs and easily accepts friendly strangers. Duke got along great with the volunteers 4 dogs from the start (3 females and a neutered male). Duke is a big boy; he can play a little rough with smaller dogs but accepts corrections easy from his handler but be careful to not over correct him since he's a 'soft' and sensitive dog. At home he settles down nicely and becomes your 80lb lap dog. He crates well while he's in the room with you, but he can be a little vocal when left alone in the crate but settles in quickly. With a little basic obedience training and some leash manners (which he was picking up quickly) Duke is a great dog for an active family. Available for foster or adoption.
