About Albany

Adoption Fee: $395
Yorkie
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Albany is a sweet little girl weighing 8 pounds. She is 9 years old and is being fostered in Vestavia Hills, AL Albany must be adopted within 100 miles of her foster home in Vestavia Hills, AL. Updated Bio 10/3/22: Albany is a super sweet girl. Her foster parents consider her the easiest dog they have fostered. Albany likes short walks but is not much for playing in the yard. While she is not much for active play, she LOVES sitting on the porch and watching the world. She doesn't give the other dogs in her foster home much attention. She does not have a problem with other cats or dogs, but she also does not play with them. Albany would be fine as an only dog or would easily mesh in a family with existing pets. She loves to be cuddled and carried around but also enjoys her own space too. Albany has the most beautiful hair. She will stand perfectly still while her foster parents brush her hair. In fact, she enjoys getting her hair brushed. When Albany arrived in UYR care, she had dental disease and had to have a few teeth removed. She currently has grade 1 dental disease even after just getting her teeth cleaned back in August. She will need frequent dental cleanings and needs a vet that works with you on other methods to help reduce the plaque and stinky breath. She must have had some damage to her lower jaw at some point in her life, it is an old fracture and those three bottom front teeth are loose but the vet didn't want to pull them due to the fractured jaw that never healed properly. They didn't want to compromise it with pulling the teeth and said to wait until they came out on their own. This does not prevent her from eating hard kibble or drinking water. Since she is now 8 pounds, we are working to get her back down to the 6-7 pound range, and has the beginnings of cataracts. She does not show any signs of vision impairments. Her foster parents have enjoyed their time with her. While they are sad to see her go they are excited that she will be living her best life with her forever family.
