Howdy! I'm Maverick, and I'm a sweet, fun-loving, energetic, and smart chocolate Lab mix fella who was born in March 2022. At six months old, I weighed 28 pounds, but I should weigh between 55-80 pounds when I'm full grown. I'm easy to please because I just love everybody -- adults and kids. Remember that the sweet-faced, lovable Labrador Retriever is America's most popular dog breed. We're friendly, outgoing, and high-spirited companions who have more than enough affection to go around for a family looking for a medium-sized dog. We have all the attributes of the ideal family dog. While my foster mom is working, I love the company of the resident dogs in my foster home and follow them out the doggie door. There are also three resident cats, and I'm learning how to behave around them so they don't swat me. Foster mom makes me eat alone because otherwise I eat everyone's food; I want to gobble up the yummy food too fast, too, so she makes me eat out of a slow feeder. Don't mistake my easygoing personality for low energy: we Labs are enthusiastic athletes who require lots of exercise to keep us physically and mentally fit. I'd do best in a home with an active family who will take me out for long walks, jogging, or marathon games of fetch at the dog park. I'd also do best in a home with another dog since I'm so canine-friendly. How is it that a great dog like me is looking for a home? My owner had collected six dogs, but when he was evicted from his apartment for breaking the pet policy, he abandoned all of us! We pooches were devastated! Fortunately a Good Samaritan apprised Miss Donna of our plight, and she stepped up to the plate to find us all homes. To her credit, she not only took me in but nursed me through Parvo. Thank heavens I'm fully recovered! My puppy-dog heart has so much love to give, but all I need is you! Arrange to meet me today! I promise to cover your face with mushy puppy kisses. Maverick is updated on shots, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and on heartworm preventative. His adoption fee is $300 for puppies 9 months and younger. An application must be filled out prior to adoption.
