About Mathias

Mathias was playing shy at first. When we approached his kennel, he would slowly creep to the other side and peek out around the corner to look at us. So we got down at his level and we shared some gentle words with him and he slowly came forward. He allowed us to leash him, and he scurried out of the pavilion as quickly as he could. The barking of all of the dogs in the shelter really scare him. Mathias is a big boy but super gentle. Once outdoors we saw him light up. He decided that we were pretty good once he discovered we had yummy treats! Mathias wasn't interested in toys, he just wanted to be by our side for lots of ear scratches. It looks like sweet Mathias has experienced some ear infections before arriving at the shelter. There's a little bit of fur loss behind one of his ears from all the scratching trying to relieve the itch. We were happy to comply with his request for our scratches. We think Mathias is barely out of puppyhood. He is looking for a place that he can feel safe and secure. Good homes, the dogs need you more than ever!
