About DANI

Meet DANI! 13 year old female Yorkie LOCATION: Pensacola FL NEEDS: Fenced yard, lots of love. HIGHLIGHTS: Sweet, friendly, gentle senior looking for love. Dani is a 13 year old, 6.2 pound champagne colored Yorkie. Dani was surrendered to us after the death of her owner. We have no idea what her life was like before we got her but she came in to us in horrible shape. She had coccidia, mammary tumors, and a horrible infection. She was so bad that we honestly did not think that we were going to be able to put her up for adoption, ever. Not only was she very sick but her foster mom struggled to get her to eat, and she's already a tiny little girl. It's highly likely that her appetite was low because she was so sick and also because she was in a new place, but it was still hard to watch. It took weeks trying many different things to get her to eat. She now eats off a paper towel or a little plastic plate. She has a funny little ritual now too. At mealtime she will hop in her little kennel until her food plate is in there, and then she hops out and eats from the outside. Her foster mom has to stay close or she won't eat. Her foster mom says she's done a complete turnaround in the 5 months we have had her. Dani has gone from being scared of everything and hiding, to a sweet little dog that wants love and to be part of the family. She's getting used to being held and loved and even gives kisses now. She loves to sit beside her person in a chair and will rest in a dog bed the rest of the time. Dani is sweet with a touch of sassy! She is good with all calm little dogs, but isn't good with alpha dogs and will scrap with them. She chases the feral cats that come into her yard. Her vision isn't the best, so she can be startled easily and a home with younger kids is not a good idea. When new people come over, she wags her tail but is a little hesitant for them to pet her. She will warm up after a few minutes though. Dani is doing great on potty training and will use a puppy pee pad if you're not around to let her out. She's not good on a leash, and will need a fenced yard. She doesn't care about toys, she'll sniff them and maybe shake them once. At night she sleeps in the big bed on top of the covers. Dani has come so far from the sick little girl that we met 5 months ago! She is ready for a loving forever home. We know someone out there with a heart for tiny seniors is going to give her a loving home! Dani has been to the vet many times and is cleared for adoption! At her recent surgery Dani had 6 tumors removed and all but 8 of her teeth. She is up to date on shots, spayed, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. We think she's pretty hard to resist and hope you will too. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review.
