About Abraham

Meet Abraham, 'Abe' for short. This sweet Malamute mix seems to be around 7 or 8yrs old and was turned into the Arizona Humane Society as a stray in mid-May. He unfortunately at one point in his life, not too long before he came in, suffered a bad wound to his face. It was already significantly enough healed when he arrived at the Humane Society that the best course of action was to allow it to continue to heal as is - and so it has! The overall swelling has gone down a lot from his original photos, and the scar is purely cosmetic at this point. As for his temperament, Abe is much more on the timid and fearful side - he is very under-socialized, but has a sweet nature to him. His coat was full of debris when found, definitely indicating a neglectful past. He seems to like dogs quite a bit, but new people are much more scary. His foster has had him for quite a while now and does feel that he needs some continued longterm socialization, so we will be looking for someone with a lot of patience, and ideally experience with fearful animals. He needs a home that is more on the quiet side - other dogs are just fine, though we are unsure about cats and children. Although Abe is not remotely aggressive, fast movements and a ton of noise and a busy environment are not likely to help him thrive.
