About Victor

Adoption Fee: $475
Great Dane
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

LOCATION: San Antonio, Texas DOB: 8/23/2017 (estimate) Victor's eyes and ears may not be as strong as other dogs, but his heart sure is. Victor has recently undergone enucleation or removal of his right eye; he is healing very well. He is fun, playful, and at times a mischievous dog. He has a strong curiosity to explore his surroundings. He runs and plays in the yard without hesitation. It does take him time to acclimate to his surroundings, he is a genius of mapping out the area and rarely runs in to anything. Victor is a lot like a cat. He is not overly affectionate, does his own thing, on his timeframe. Although he needs to be near his human, it is not for affection but for safety. He is not one for cuddling but does love to lounge on the couch! Victor, for the most part, is housetrained. He HATES the crate and does not do well with car rides. He is always underfoot, especially when one is the kitchen. He has learned to bark, at what we do not know. His barking is just on occasion and not constant. He gets along well with his foster's other dogs. Boundaries have been set, and all get along. The formation of the relationship did take a bit of time, with Victor's deafness and blindness, he is unable to read ques. On occasion, Victor will play with a toy, but he LOVES sticks and leaves, he often brings them in the house as a gift to his humans. Victor would be good in a home with a bit of patience, preferable if someone is home all day. He would be fine with children, other pets too. He would not be a good fit for someone with mobility issues, a family who takes their dogs on trips, dog parks, like to walk their dogs etc. Change in routine, or surroundings complicate things for Victor, he needs to feel safe in his environment. Is he perfect? Nope; but he is trying. Victor has enormous heart and wants nothing more than to be a great dog. The learning curve is his family, not him really. His foster family is navigating how to communicate with him, and they are seeing success. This special boy is looking for the right family to help him navigate this big world and give him all the love and attention he deserves. ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 =========================
