About Athena

Adopt Athena!!! Athena is a 3 year old Cane Corso looking for her forever! Athena is located in Oklahoma but we ADOPT NATIONWIDE, Transport NATIONWIDE or allow pick-ups! This girl is just STUNNING!! She is so muscular and beefy, she is 95-100 pounds of perfection. She's the sweetest most incredible girl! She is extremely well trained, crate trained, walks well in heel or loose leash, knows all her basic skills very well. She is one of the best trained dogs (that we did not train) to enter our rescue. She is obsessed with playing fetch! She loves the rubber ball and fetch stick and will shock you with her speed, agility and stamina to play. She will happily chase, retrieve and bring the ball back and drop it or toss it to you to repeat over and over again! Ball is life with this girl! We don't know much about Athena's past other than she was obviously used for breeding. She came in with several scars on her face, neck and head, which we are unsure if they occurred during breeding or a fight. They are all healed and her coat is a beautiful fawn & full of shine! She has done very well with Zola, my female training dog but it took a long slow transition to get her there. She was very distrusting at first, but given her circumstances it often takes dogs a bit to decompress and relax. She is very interested in playing with other dogs, males she's more relaxed with at first, but with proper slow transition we believe she could be with either sex. She would do best with a confident dog that is not dominant. Cane Corso are not usually pack animals, they typically do best in pairs or single dog homes. They are very attached to their people, love and loyalty is no question with this breed. She is good in public, great with children and has had no issue with our kitten at the center. She loves both women and men, but we have the sweetest young man who volunteers with us & loves to visit her. She will go crazy, excited when she sees him, flopping on her back for belly rubs and literally screeches with joy.
