About Monkey

Monkey is a 5-year old cattle dog mix, who wants to hang out with his person or people all day long and go on fun adventures like hiking, walking, sniffing, and exploring. He has all the amazing cattle dog qualities, and also some of the more challenging ones as well. He is super smart, loves learning new tricks, is clicker trained (positive reinforcement only) and eager to please. Like many cattle dogs, he is not a fan of people he doesn't know and requires a very slow warmup to new people. He started social distancing before it became a COVID trend. A quiet, active home without kids and with heeler or reactive dog experience is needed for Monkey to be most successful. We love Monkey so much, but it's clear that our home in the city with a new baby is not the best for him, and we can feel his anxiety (and mine) growing by the day. He is truly an amazing dog in the right circumstances, but we aren't the right home for him, which breaks our heart.
