About Bailey

German Shepherd / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Meet Miss Bailey! Hugging and snuggling are among her top skills! Bailey is a 4.5-year old 77-lb female German Shepherd and Labrador Retriever mix located in Rutland, MA. One of her favorite activities is riding in the car. She just LOVES the car and sits like a person while traveling to the next adventure. Naturally she loves a drive-thru that offers pup cups or munchkins! Some of her other likes include: treats, rope toys, kong toys, and special bones. Outdoors, she likes a good game of fetch and playing with sticks. She loves nature and quiet, woodsy walks, too. Though she enjoys playing outside and going for walks, Bailey is on the lower energy side. She's often quite lazy! So, if you enjoy just chilling out sometimes, Bailey will be happy to join you. She actually likes to watch TV, so you may have to share the remote. Bailey also has very nice house manners. She is not destructive to her home and is trained not to get on the furniture. She is house-trained but goes one step further by ringing a bell with her nose to inform her people it's time to do her business. She's also crate-trained and uses her crate when left home alone. She even cooperates to use a basket muzzle at the vet. There's no doubt this girl is high on the smarty pants scale. No surprise after years of training and her owner's upkeep of her skills. Bailey knows several commands (too many to list!) and she understands many vocabulary words. Bailey would love for her new pet parents to help her keep up these skills. She also hopes her vocal talent will be appreciated. She has her own language to tell you just how she really feels, but in a sweet and funny way. She has a special 'woo' sound, almost like a wolf, to let you know she needs something. Talking about needing something'|Bailey needs a home because she hasn't acclimated to life with a new baby in the family. Bailey has always shown fear of new people, so her current owners worked very hard to get the right method for Bailey to meet visitors. They start outdoors with Bailey on leash. She's anxious at first, either barking, showing a side eye, or hair raised, but if ignored, she calms down within 5-10 minutes. Inside the home, she feels comfortable in about 30 minutes and will let people pet her. Many dogs are like Bailey. They need time to sniff things out and be the first to approach. Unfortunately, Bailey is highly uncomfortable and recently snapped at the baby. She did not make contact, but it was enough for the new parents to lose confidence in Bailey. They've made the sad decision to find a more suitable home, with Animal Rescue Konnection guiding them through a safe and responsible process. Bailey requires a home with a single or couple without children or kids that visit regularly. Her adopter must have dog experience with Bailey's needs and a yard. She'd love her own yard and people to give her lots of love and snuggles. Sorry, but no apartments, no kids, and no other pets. After reading her bio, do you think you're a match for Bailey's temperament, intelligence, and interest in drive-thrus?
