About Sadie

Sadie has been our disabled daughter's dog for 2 years. She's a rescue from a local shelter. Due to a deterioration in my daughter's health the past few months, she's unable to continue training classes with Sadie, and gradually, she's been less and less able to take care of Sadie. Sadie's care then falls to me or her dad. My back and neck problems often make that difficult for me as well. Her dad is 70 years old and still working full time, so he can't do it either. Sadie is smart. She's a great guard dog who alerts us any time someone is here. She knows how to sit, lie down, and turn around on command. She can catch a ball or frisbee. She was beginning to learn how to go across a seesaw and through a tube when she was in training, but that training ended months ago. She'd make a great trick dog for someone with the time and energy to work with her. She knows how to walk on a leash without pulling. She lives in a house with 4 cats, and she likes other dogs. She's still a bit stubborn about the 'stay' and 'come' command unless she's offered treats. She knows 'out' and 'treat.' She's very food motivated in training. She's crate trained and housebroken. She rings a bell on our door when she wants to go out, which she does a LOT, because let's face it, she's an outdoor kind of dog. (She'd be a lap dog if you let her.) She gets separation anxiety if left loose in the house while you're gone, so she's really not an ideal dog to keep indoors full-time the way we do. Needless to say, my daughter heartbroken about giving Sadie up, but she wants the best for Sadie. We hope we can find a special home for her. Sadie's rabies vaccine is good until 2024.
