About Kai

Does this sound like your home, because it would be the ideal home for Kai. He would like a home where he could be with someone who is home most of the time or would take him with them most places. He wants a person who will take him on walks several times a day. Kai loves to go on walks around the neighborhood, and he is a little shy/timid around strangers until he gets to know new people. He always wants to be with his person throughout the day and prefers to sleep in the bed with you at night!! You can describe Kai as a snuggler, a lap dog/velcro dog that is a loyal companion. He loves to get pets and loves belly rubs. He goes potty 4+ times a day, and we are working on his house training. His family will need to continue a regular routine with him to ensure his success. He enjoys sleeping in a bed ! Kai would not make a good condo or apartment pup as he requires a fenced in yard. He likes being able to roam in the backyard during the day; he really enjoys being outside quite a bit, so his family would need to make sure to spend quality time with him each day in the fresh air. The fence must be solid panel fencing or have very narrow spacing due to his size and would need to be 4ft tall. In addition, a home without small kids; they are just a 'too much' for him. A home with older, quieter kids that are familiar with proper dog behavior would be fine. Kai is cat friendly so a home with dog friendly kitties will be fine. Kai does not live in a home with other dogs, but we think he would be fine with dogs around his size that are friendly and happy. Kai is learning about traveling in the car. Right now he is a little scared at the onset but settles and relaxes into the trip. When out and about it is a good time for him to continue his leash manners. Kai does have some resource guarding of food, treats and people. This behavior can be handled and modified with the right types of positive reinforcement training and consistency. Kai is a 9lb male Chihuahua mix. As part of Kai's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
