About Bentley

Adoption Fee: $250
Shih Tzu / Yorkie
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Bentley is a happy boy. He is very independent and talkative. Like many little dogs, he has a BIG personality. So if you are ready for a lot charisma in a little body then maybe this little guy is right for you? When meeting new dogs, in general, he needs a little time to get to know them before they are buddies. Bentley is good with submissive dogs and will need to be adopted into a family with other furry, friendly four-legged family members. Due to his high energy, his doggie siblings should be equally active and playful. He would be an unhappy little guy with out doggie friends to live with so if you have a furry friend or two that would love another happy pup to join your gang, maybe Bentley is the one?! Bentley enjoys car rides and will be happy to go wherever you go, so pack him up and take him along with you. As you know, he won't take up too much space! He is a road trip fan! Bentley is leash trained and loves to be the leader on walks. He also loves toys of all kinds...soft, plush, squeaky, etc. so much so he can be a bit of toy hog. Make sure to load of the toy basket for this boy! He enjoys a fun game of fetch or tug-o-war as well. He is just a fun, playful guy! Bentley is already house trained and crate trained, so check those two boxes of your list! He goes outside 4-5 times a day for potty breaks and a little fresh air. He stays in his crate and sleeps while his foster mom is working and does fine. Speaking of the home, he does NOT require a fence so could be a good pup for a condo, townhouse or apartment. When outside, he wants his person to be outside with him. These are just some of the benefits of adopting an older dog; skipping some of the crazy puppyhood stages can be a nice change of pace. Bentley does have a few 'habits' and can be greedy with his food, treats and toys. He will resource guard these things, so his person will need to be aware of this and know how to properly work with him on these behaviors. Bentley is a bit of greedy guy and will try and 'grab and go' when his foster mom is eating. Therefore, he is in his crate during meal time. This little guy needs proper introduction to strangers as he can be protective of his person, so that behavior will need to be monitored and redirected. Bentley is timid around strangers; he needs a little time to get to know them as he is a bit shy at first. Little people are not his thing so no children in Bentley's new fur-ever home. They are just too loud, too active, too much for his older years. He isn't really an attention seeker. He prefers to be near you but not necessarily on you. He loves attention when he wants it. He wants to be petted when he initiates it; but he lets you know when enough is enough. Bentley DOB is 08/05/2015; male Yorkie/Shih Tzu mix. As part of Bentley's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
