About FRITA

Adoption Fee: $250
Yorkie / Chihuahua
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Meet Frita, a Chorkie( Chihuahua Yorkie mix approximately 12 yrs old, and weighs 9 lbs. She's a laid back senior lady that enjoys taking naps, getting pets behind her ear and neck and keeping you company. General Behavior/Routine: Frita is low maintenance and all she requires is a fuzzy bed near you to take naps all day long. She likes to be where people are, and if left alone, she will bark for a bit and then back to napping again. First thing in the AM, she is taken outside to the backyard, or taken for a short walk around the block for #1 & # 2. Then, she gets her kibble soaked in chicken broth and a couple of pieces of boiled chicken. She may have been fed table food before, so she's learning to eat her kibble consistently. After her meal, she gets her daily eye drop then she goes to find the perfect bed and companion to nap the rest of the morning and afternoon. She doesn't let you know when she needs to go out, but when you let her outside she knows what to do and she also knows how to use pee-pee pads if needed. She goes outside several times during the day and in the evening she's taken for another short walk around the block before bed. She currently sleeps in a playpen area with a couple of pee pee pads in case she needs to go in the middle of the night and sleeps all through the night with no complaints. She had some senior incontinence incidents at first, but if she doesn't drink too much water at night, she's incident free (we all have that problem ;). Frita does have bursts of energy (zoomies) and runs around the house and looks for your attention to play with her, she's a very loving girl and loves to gets rubs behind her ear and neck. If you're on the couch, she'll jump on it to find a comfy spot to nap next to you. Training: Frita is learning to use a doggy door and is making a lot of progress. She is still learning to use it to go outside, but knows how to get back inside perfectly. She likes to go potty on grass, so having a backyard or sidewalk with grass access is a must. She's a little deaf so its a little challenging to teach her commands, but with patience and consistency she's able to learn new routines. Frita does great on car rides, she likes to sit on your lap or in the passenger seat if allowed. Medical: Frita is currently on her regular heart, flea and tick medication and also on a daily eye drop. She's a little blind and deaf, so she will not answer to her name or commands, but her sense of smell is 100% and if you're cooking, she'll know exactly where to go. Other Animals: Frita is good with her foster sisters, she's never shown any aggression. She is also ok with cats, she doesn't seem interested or bothered by them. She's a sweet little girl overall. Children: She has not been exposed to children, but she is small, so children that could be grabby or rough may not be suitable for this senior little lady. Grooming: Frita is a terrier mix with short wired hair, so there is not much grooming to worry about, except a regular biweekly bath, which she doesn't mind at all. She will also need her face wiped daily. Frita is a perfect companion for someone who is home a lot or works from home and looking for a loyal, loving and furry companion.
