About Copper

Meet Copper Copper is a gorgeous fox hound mix. He was returned recently when his owners decided they were not the right home. He is nothing short of amazing, He's about three years old now. Copper did not have a good start to life when he was originally found thrown out like trash. He's been adopted and returned and now we are looking for a special family to welcome this incredible boy into their heart and home forever. Copper is a dream dog. He is friendly, affectionate, smart, loving, loyal and so much fun to be with. He's also very gentle. He loves people. He likes other dogs and we think he'll do fine with kitties. He is full of tail wags and doggie kisses. Copper is an active boy, like most hounds. He will do best in an active family where he'll get to go on hikes and walks and adventures. A containment fence will be a must for this boy so he can run and play safe and sound. A doggie mate would benefit him. He's lived in a house and does well. Copper will do best with a consistent routine and guidance to help him transition into a loving home. The person or family lucky enough to adopt Copper will be richly rewarded. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
