About Ruger (FKA Battle)

Location: Watauga, Texas Age/DOB: 08/06/2021 (estimate) Hey y'all. I'm Ruger - a southern boy who lived all of my young life outside. I don't tell you that so you feel sorry for me, but so you understand little 'ol me. While I lived outside, I made my own rules and did what I wanted. But it wasn't so much fun during the heat of the summer. So I traded my outside ways for the comfort of home and am now learning how to be an inside dog. Let's get down to business; I'll tell you how my training is going: *I do well in the crate, no separation anxiety when I'm left alone. *I figured out the doggy door and take myself outside through it; I hear that means I'm potty-trained. *I can be choosy about my doggy friends. But I'm learning to make friends - with very slow introductions. My foster momma is working on muzzle training me as well. *I am a boy that LOVES food. I'm easily distracted by food. Which is good for helping to train me; but if you give me an opportunity to countersurf I will take it. *I like to play! Sometimes I play rough and need to be distracted with treats (didn't I tell you I LOVE food?) so I can settle myself back down. *I like toys. But stuffed animals don't stand up to my chewing skills. I have done just fine with people - men and women alike. Given that I still need some help with my basic manners and training, I'm not quite ready to live with small children. I just don't understand my own strength yet. I'm looking for a family to invest some time and patience into helping me come into my own and be the best version of me.
