About Magpie

Magpie is a loving dog with the right person. She is better with female adults than males, she is nervous of males and will bark and cower, but does acclimate to males if introduced slowly and once you are her owner, male or female, she will love you. She has not been around young children. She lives with a large male dog and does well, but is definitely the alpha and lets it be known when she has had enough. She is dog aggressive when protecting her territory and more so with small dogs and female dogs. This has become a little more prevalent as she has gotten older. If with the right person she is the biggest lap dog that likes nothing better than to snuggle, she has been trained and is a great house dog who will idolize you. She has my heart, but with her ability to escape my yard and have too much interaction with other dogs in the neighborhood, and the need for further training to manage her temperament, I feel she would thrive better with a loving human that has more time to spend with her and keep reinforcing her training. A person that has a huge backyard for her to run.
