About Blackie

Meet Blackie, a stunning 6-year-old, 50 lb. black lab with a gorgeous coat, happy smile, and soulful eyes. This lovely lad was surrendered to the Danbury Animal Control pound, where he has been for over two years, after the dog trainer he was staying with passed away. He has been through a lot and will require a patient adopter with extensive dog experience. Blackie is a friendly, medium energy level pup who enjoys long walks, treats, running in the yard, and being with his people. He loves playtime outside and human affection. Like most labs, Blackie is very smart and attentive. Due to all the trauma he has endured, he is dog reactive and will resource guard high value items around both dogs and people. Blackie must be an only pet and will need an owner committed to continued training to work on his behaviors. While he may not like other animals, he adores people and just wants to break out of the kennel and be your one and only buddy! Blackie must go to a home with a fenced yard.
