About Caspien

Adoption Fee: $35
Domestic Cat / Siamese
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

Caspien is a 13 year old cat that lives with my 82 year old mother. He is an indoor cat, but I believe once he is used to a new home and knows and loves his new family, he could be both indoor and outdoor. He is actually a shy cat - but I had to put 'dominant' on his description because of the following: Full Disclosure on the situation: I will be completely honest. Caspien bit my mother about 3 weeks ago. I believe it was both playful and aggression. She was sleeping and he sleeps next to her. She woke up and when she moved, he jumped on the sheets and bit through the sheets. He was playing (my cats do this too) He did not break her skin. She yelled, he hid under the bed. She took out her walking stick to shoo him out of the room and then locked him out. He was not happy. When she left the room, he jumped and bit her on the calf - and broke her skin. She went to urgent care and the next day was admitted to the hospital for IV antiobiotics to prevent infection - because she is 82 and has a heart condition that will not tolerate a blood infection. He is affectionate with me and wants to play. He rolls over on his back and likes to be brushed daily. He loves a little dab of vanilla ice cream in the evening. My mom has his nails trimmed monthly. I have 5 cats already that we rescued and I can't handle another male in the house. And I have 2 rescue dogs that Caspien would not tolerate. Caspien wants to sit with mom, he wants to sleep in her room and cries everynight because she locks him out. She shoos him away because she is afraid that he'll scratch her or bite her again. I feel bad for my mom and I feel bad for him. She has had him for 13 years and he is her only companion. Her friends keep telling her to kill him and she keeps crying because she doesn't want to keep him - but she does not believe he should be euthanized. In the interim of trying to find him a home, I put Feliway plug ins at her apartment and he is trying to sit with her or rub up against her and she will not let him near her. He is so sad and depressed. Can someone please help? I put an adoption fee of $35 which could be waived if confirm he will be going to a loving home that understands he will need some patience to bond. I have reached out to over 15 rescue organizations and have been told that he cannot be rehomed through them. The SPCA feels that he can be rehomed privately and that there is hope for him. Thank you.
