About Rio

LOCATION: Hobart, Wisconsin AGE/DOB: 5 years, 05/2017 (estimate) Hello! My name is Rio! I am a pretty low energy guy who just wants to snuggle up and relax either on the couch or in bed with you if you'll let me! I currently have 2 foster siblings whom I do love to play with when we go outside. I do not show any resource guarding. One of my foster siblings likes to boss me around, but I am very submissive so I usually just let her because all I really care about is getting pets and love from my humans. If I think you can give me attention and you're not, I will definitely nudge you as a reminder that I want some love! And this is whether you're my human or someone visiting my home, I just want all the loves! My ideal home would be someone who considers themselves a homebody. In the beginning I had to rely on my foster siblings to show me how to be a dog, now that they've shown me the ropes I really think I like having a doggy sibling around. If I don't that's okay too because I care more about the humans anyways! I do get a little nervous when first meeting a dog just because I want to know if they're willing to be nice and play with me. I am a true gentleman, even with cats! I'll sniff them a little bit but I don't really care much about them. I will admit that I do want to chase after small livestock (my current foster parents have to keep me far away from the chickens but BOY are they fun to grab and run around with while they squawk in my mouth). I prefer to have someone home with me, but when I am alone, I usually just sleep on my bed in my bedroom. If I'm left alone in a big area for too long I tend to have an accident. I've met a few kiddos and they are pretty exciting! However, sometimes they make me a little nervous with their running around and high energy. I think I'd do best with kids that are 12+ that can be calm and respectful around me. I love floppy toys that I can rip apart and flip around and chew toys! I dislike changes to my schedule and surroundings. It took a while for my current foster parents to acclimate me to my new home, but after a month or so of consistency I learned my ways and usually follow the rest of my pack. I love walks and do great on a leash! Sometimes when I see other dogs I let out a few barks until we get past them. My bark can sound scary because I am so big but I am truly just a gentle giant.
