About MELLOW

Meet Mellow! He is an 8 year old, 7.4 pound sweet Maltese chihuahua mix. He loves to sit in your lap and loves to be carried around. When he wants picked up, he will jump on your legs. When you go to pick him up, he'll back up to you so you can scoop him right up. He loves to be held like a baby and get his belly rubbed. Mellow is good with other small dogs and will occasionally try to play with them. He has not been around big dogs since we have had him, but we were told that he was good with bigger dogs and cats too. He had children around him in his prior home and he was fine with them as well. Mellow is good on a leash and has been doing great on pottying outside, although sometimes you have to pick him up and carry him out. He prefers to potty on the concrete patio, and is not a fan of grass but he is getting better about that. When he came into us his skin was very red and he was very scratchy and itchy. He is on Prednisone and has been getting medicated baths every few days and he is looking and feeling so much better. Mellow sleeps in his dog bed and will spend a lot of time napping in it during the day too! He's a very laid back little guy! Mellow has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, neutered, fecal tested, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Applicants should live within a 1-2 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted. *To meet a dog or be considered for adoption you must first submit an adoption application for review.
