About Maze

Adoption Fee: $50
Boxer mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

٠ URGENT - Needs foster ASAP or will be taken to shelter! ---- Maze is a 1.5 y/o boxer mix that is very confused because of how often he's been bounced around in the past 9 months. He was slated for euthanasia in a NC shelter when rescue stepped in. Then he went to boarding for several months until a foster was found. *** Now, due to a family emergency, he has to move to yet another foster (or adopter) or they will be forced to surrender him back to their local shelter, coming sadly full circle back to square one, right back where he started. So we NEED to move him before that happens! *** And, the confusion and trauma that may cause will likely set him back and undo all the progress he's made in the foster home where they've worked diligently with him on some behaviors and bad habits he had acquired from not having been in a stable home for any length of time. Anyone familiar with the Boxer breed knows they can be hard-headed and stubborn so he does need some continued basic obedience training and leash-walking skills (but he's *very* treat-motivated which helps him catch on quickly!). In the current foster home, he lives with several other dogs of various sizes and ages and, although he gets along with most (and really loves playing and running and romping with them), scuffles have ensued over resource guarding (he sometimes has difficulty sharing toys, food, etc.). He's made *tremendous* progress in this area but it will need to continue to be monitored/reinforced so he doesn't go backwards. He is fully housebroken, crate trained (and sleeps through the night), rides well in the car, is affectionate and cuddly, and not really a big barker. He LOVES kongs, chasing balls, and peanut butter-stuffed bones. Maze needs a patient, experienced foster or adoptive family to continue the amazing strides that the current foster family has achieved, preferably one that has experience with Boxers or other 'stubborn' breeds. He will do best in a home with a large fenced area for him to run and exercise, preferably with at least one other playful, social (non-Alpha) dog for him to play with. No cats or chickens, and preferably no really young children. Overall, this poor young guy just needs a family to see him as the diamond in the rough that he is and who will give him some consistent stability instead of constantly being shuffled around. *** As time is of the essence, if you can help this sweet guy, please message us with your contact info or TEXT/CALL Aly at 732-604-0625 ASAP *** ٪%8F Thank you!
