Meet the precious gem of a dog, Opal. Opal is true to her name and is sure to be a treasured jewel in your family! She is about 2 years old and weighs about 40 pounds and came to us from a rural shelter who had more dogs than adopters! Opal is dog friendly, and is savvy enough to ignore reactive dogs and move along. She likes to play and run so a fenced in yard would be very beneficial but she would also do well with long walks. Opal is an independent gal who likes the outside but she is learning that people can be kind and gentle and that she likes to cuddle. Opal is house and crate trained, although she may try to fool you with a little vocalization when she first goes into her crate. She's a quiet dog but will let other dogs know she's ready to play by singing the song of her people. Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
