About Aria

This is Aria! Aria is a 2 year old Dutch Shepherd. She is recently fixed and up to date on her shots. We have had to make the difficult decision to rehome her because she does not get along with our female German Shepherd and she attacked one of our cats. Aria is a sweet girl with so much potential. She does well with our male husky and may do well with a well trained female that is around her size or a female who is submissive. She absolutely should not be around small animals due to her high prey drive. She does have some formal training and has been trained with a pinch collar and an e-collar. She is also crate trained and must be crated if you are gone for long periods of time because she will get bored and becomes destructive. She must be in an industrial steel crate for her own safety. We do have one that we would be willing to sell to her new owners. Aria is very weary of new people and it does take a few days for her to start warming up. But once she is familiar with you, she is the biggest love bug and fiercely loyal/protective. She has done well with our 6 month old son since the day we brought him home and she enjoys giving him lots of kisses and being his protector. She may however have too much energy for small children who are moving and grooving. Given Aria's breed, she will need a large fenced in backyard to run around in, plenty of long walks, and someone who is willing to dedicate a good amount of time in working her or playing with her daily. She is not your typical house dog and thrives in an environment where she is given a job. We will not be just rehoming her to anyone and we will be thoroughly screening any interested individuals. Interested individuals must have proven experience handling German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, Malinois, or any other working dog breed. Vet references are required as well as a home visit (can be virtual) to ensure you will be providing her with the best possible environment for her to thrive in. We are located in the Austin, TX area and are willing to meet within reason.
