About Misty

Misty may look like a full grown Aussie/Rough Collie mix, but she is all puppy. Misty is black and white with a beautiful coat and full tail. She is just over a year old. She weighs about 49 lbs. She gets along with other dogs and immediately wants to play. She is not food aggressive, even with another dog. She loves small children, but she still has the puppy brain, and sometimes gets too rambunctious. Misty is high energy and needs a child with that same level of energy who is not afraid of being knocked over. Misty thinks a four-year-old playing tug of war with her is the best thing! (Her foster mom doesn't play tug of war.) Misty would really love children of her own to play with! Misty is still in the chewing stage. Her foster mom has discovered that if you give her enough bones, and empty milk jugs, she will leave the bathmat alone. She has not been taking items off the end tables, but the children have learned that any toy on the floor is fair game. Misty arrived at her foster home as a digger of random holes in the lawn. Once a dig pit made out of an old child's pool was set up with a couple bags of top soil and hidden bones, Misty stopped digging in the lawn. Misty is house broken, and crate trained. Note, that if she spends too many hours in the crate, when she is let out, she will tear around the house and yard like a young colt just let out of the barn. She has started to learn basic commands. She has learned 'leave it', even when it comes to food, 'off', and is pretty good with the 'sit' and 'wait' commands, but thinks 'down' is a foreign language. Misty can tell time and knows when it is 6:30 am, the time for her 'heel' training. Her foster mom is using the 'gentle lead' for training, and Misty sits patiently waiting for it to be fastened. Misty is going to be a blast for someone who likes teaching dogs tricks, she is very smart and wants to please. Misty is good with other dogs, cats and children. She is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines and preventatives.
