About Cleo

Adoption Fee: $25
Beagle mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

We have an appointment on Saturday the 16th to surrender Cleo to the humane society. I hope to find her a loving home before that. She is a very sweet, loving dog needs forever home. She is a very timid dog. She rarely barks. We have had her since October of last year. She has such a sweet relationship with each member of our family. I have eight children, but only four at home. She waits at the bottom of the stairs to greet me every morning. I let her out, then she comes and licks my hand, then lays at my feet while I read. She does that same thing with each person as they come down. She is very playful with my youngest son, who is 10. She plays with toys with my son and fetches the toy. She takes a little while to warm up to people. She is not at all aggressive. She's pretty obedient. Tonight when we came home from a party, my son had gotten home just before us, and let her out. Someone had left the gate open. She was standing at the open gate looking at us, she didn't come out of the gate until my husband called her. Every day when she hears my husband's car back up in front of the house, she waits at the door for him to come in. The only person she ever jumps up on is my 21 year old daughter, who rather encourages that behavior. She loves to go on walks. At first she wasn't very good on the leash, and pulled the whole time, but we have been working on that and she does much better now. She smiles at us. To other people, it looks like she's bearing her teeth, but her tail is wagging, and she is totally happy, is a smile. We would totally keep her if we could. We want someone to love her! The reason we have to surrender her is that she does not like babies. She hides from them and is scared of them. My grandson (less than a year old) totally loves her and chases her. Cleo hides from him and runs away if he comes around. My grandson has bitten her, and it makes me afraid that she will retaliate. She is an animal, and it could go bad. Another grandson (just over 1 year) has pulled her hair. It is no wonder she doesn't like babies! The problem is, we are a big family, and babies will be coming for years to come.
