We aren't always sure what key words will grab the public's attention when they are looking to add a family member. But here is what we can tell you, she is the SWEETEST. She is the EASIEST. She is the most perfect little gem we currently have. We fear the public sees her medical list & immediately writes her off. She isn't a project; she isn't high maintenance. She just needs routine. She needs a responsible family who will shower her with love. Let's break it down. The diagnosis: blind in her right eye, hydrocephalus, COMS (caudal occipital malformation), & SM (cervical syringomyelia). There are certain characteristics associated with dogs that have hydro, COMS, & SM. Sally displays many of these traits, and they will be life-long habits. She is currently on 2 medications, Prednisone & Omeprazole. They will run you about $45/month. She is on FROMM kibble food. Hydro dogs need to eat the same food every single meal. They operate on a strict routine. Changes in that routine are extremely hard for them to mentally process, so we eliminate as many changes as we possibly can. She gets the same food, the same consistency/shape/size/amount every meal. Same with treats. Sally does love her food & she will sing for her supper. Sally needs a physically secured yard, even if it is tiny, like an xpen area. She will never & should never, be trained on a leash. She likely will never fully housetrain. She will need a dedicated area set up for her leisure. This is where she will spend time napping, hanging out, & bedtime. This is also where she can safely be during routine household activities- like cleaning house. See, Sally looooooves to be with her humans & other small furry friends. But she does not understand boundaries or danger. She doesn't know to move out of the way, she will be underfoot most of the time. She paces, a lot. This is another habit of hydro dogs. It is how she works out her anxiety. For her safety, a home where there are no small children, no bigger dogs, or smaller obnoxious dogs. Sally loves to cuddle. She loves to be held. She loves to be loved. She wants to be with you All. The. Time. Put her in your carrier, or stroller, or buggy & take her everywhere! She can't get enough humans or kisses or snuggles.
