When we walked up to her kennel, Nova Scotia was laying on the cool floor looking miserable. Her bed was sprinkled with milk from her engorged boobs that are still dripping from a new litter. Please don't ask about her puppies, we don't know. This spotlight is about Nova Scotia and her only! Scotia is desperate for kindness. She wasn't sure about leaving her kennel. The noise level of thirty dogs in a room is intimidating on its own. Once outside, Scotia turned Velcro and wanted to be in our arms or under our feet. She didn't care about treats or toys, just being loved on. Eventually she took a few treats but our hand motions made her uneasy. She would cower and crawl away briefly anytime s hand was raised. We don't know why anyone would hit a dog, ever. Dogs don't close their eyes and brace after one swat, this is from repeated abuse. We are going to help Scotia as much as we can with love and compassion and a spay so she never has to have another litter.
