Name: Maverick Age: 2 years old Breed: Corgi/Australian Shepherd Mix, 24#, small Sex: Male, not neutered Location: Williamson County, Texas Vet Information: Maverick is both blind and deaf. He is not neutered nor microchipped. Maverick is not current with vaccinations. He was seen by a veterinary ophthalmologist who has said that his disabilities are genetic and an issue that came from breeding. Owner Information: Maverick has been with his current owners for about a year. When he came to them, they didn't know that he was both blind and deaf. They are hoping to find a home for Maverick that can give him the care and attention that he needs. Maverick is a generally happy dog with a nice disposition! He's an outdoor dog with a fenced yard who is housebroken and leash trained. Maverick knows to sit when he is gently tapped twice on his back above his tail. He can be nervous at times, but Maverick is good with men, women, teenagers, younger children, and female dogs. He lives with a senior male dog and a female puppy. While he doesn't get along with the male, he and the female are friends who play together all the time. Maverick was already in the home when the female came, and he was very welcoming to her. Maverick can be possessive with his food and treats. While Maverick is generally good with men and hasn't had a problem before or since, a situation arose when Maverick was inside the home and his food was still out. When his male owner tried to pick him up to go outside, he bit his owner on the hand. It was a scratch that did not require medical attention and is classified as Level 2 on the Dunbar Bite Scale. A Level 2 bite is defined as skin-contact by teeth but not skin-puncture. However, there may be skin nicks (less than one tenth of an inch deep) and slight bleeding caused by forward or lateral movement of teeth against skin, but no vertical punctures. He loves to be around someone and lay right next to them at all times if not outside.' Does anyone have room for sweet Maverick? **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
